Emilio Gordoa & Sven-Åke Johansson

Die Dritte Ebene, part I (18:10)
Die Dritte Ebene, part II (13:10)

Emilio Gordoa, vibraphone
Sve-Åke Johansson, percussion, accordion

Recorded by Emilio Gordoa at Sowieso, Berlin
on 26 August 2023

The interplay between Johansson’s pulsating grooves and accordion playing as well as Gordoa’s advanced techniques and textual approach is additive in both a musical and metaphorical sense.

»We were discussing how our music moves as if in parallel lines, and how after a while something third will emerge from it, almost like a ghost,« says Gordoa. »It is something I find almost mystical: How this third level manifested itself in our playing without us thinking about it.«
